See you in 2016!
For some people, New Year’s Eve is a stressful event, and we get it. It’s the night that ushers us into the first day of the new year, a night believed by many to somehow foreshadow the outcome of the year ahead of them.
We used to feel that way, we went above and beyond to try to make the night as successful as possible, to get all our friends under one roof and to party like there is no tomorrow. In other words, to try to make it a memorable night/event.
We’re past all the stress and anxiety now, we’ve come back down to earth and have learned to concentrate on the more important things and not let all of the other nonsense affect us.
To help you be zen and calm like us, we’ve put together a little list of things to help you. We want you to enjoy the night and more importantly, remember it the next day.
Here are our Top 5 tips to make your New Year’s Eve memorable:
01. The People
It doesn’t matter if people from your circle of friends are missing. There are so many things happening on New Year’s Eve, not everybody wants to do the same thing. You need to concentrate on the people you are with and how much you appreciate them. Don’t spend the whole night thinking about the people who are missing and texting them to find out how their night is going. Be in the moment, with the people around you. It’s ok if some of your friends do their own thing, don’t hold it against them.
98% of us make new year’s resolution, and 97% of us don’t keep them. Make resolutions you know you can keep, and that make you excited about the coming year. New Year’s Eve will be so much more fun if you’re not dreading 2016 because you’ve decided you need to lose 60lbs or that you want to ”find love”. Choose something realistic, and attainable! The feeling of accomplishment will be well worth it.
03. Location, Location, Location
Don’t choose to spend New Year’s Eve in a bar/club/event that will be hyper crowded, with long lines at the bar and the bathroom that will leave you frustrated. You don’t need to break the bank to have a memorable night. You’ll regret it later. And for heaven’s sake, don’t choose to go to a place for the first time on New Year’s Eve. If you’ve never been before, it’s never a good choice. We’ve found that as much as we like to turn up, be seen in that new dress on New Year’s Eve in that hot new club everyone is talking about, it’s never as fun as we thought it would be.
04. The Photos
Don’t spend the whole night trying to document every single thing. Put the phone down and enjoy the moment and the people you are with. It will be so much more memorable that way, you’ll actually have memories, instead of relying on photos to remember. Of course, there needs to be photos of you in that new dress, we understand that, we suggest setting up a time for photos, either at midnight or just after/before. Maybe even a photo area, if you’re at a house party, like a photo booth kind of thing, everyone goes in and takes their photos and then comes back to the party. There shouldn’t be any interference on the fun during the biggest night of the year!
05. The Food & Drinks
If you’re over 25, no matter where you are on New Year’s Eve, there is bound to be food. Whether you’re hosting a party, going to a house party or at a supper club, food will be served. Make sure you know the food will be good in advance. There no worst way to ruin a night than with bad food. Read the reviews, question your friends, be prepared. Concerning drinks, we know that champagne is the drink of choice on New Year’s Eve, but we say, don’t force yourself if you don’t like champagne. It’s ok, you don’t need to have a glass! It’s not rude. Even if you love champagne, but you’re not down for the headache the next morning, it’s your prerogative to say no. Don’t hesitate.

Without a doubt, one of the best things about the holiday season are the store windows. Especially major department stores in New York, Paris and London. They usually go all out with seemingly enormous budgets devoted their windows, which sometimes don’t even feature any actual products that they sell.
If you’ve never been to New York during the holiday season, we highly recommend it! The only word to describe the atmosphere is: magical.
In lieu of actually travelling to these cities, we’ve decided to share with you our favourite stores windows of the season.
That being said, please note that these photos might not reflect the grandiosity of the real thing.
Here are some of our favourites:
Bergdorf Goodman (New York City)
Bergdorf collaborated with the prestigious Swarovski to commemorate the 120th anniversary of the crystals. The overall theme of this year’s windows is ”Brilliant Holiday” and we think they accomplished that. We particularly like the window with the fortune-teller set-up. It’s all very enchanting.
Barneys New York
Barney’s took their theme quite literally this year. ”Chillin’ Out” is easily identifiable with the giant ice sculptures created by the Ice Castles company in the fully operational ice boxes created just for the occasion. In one window, they even have live ice block carving performances by Okamoto Studios! They really went all out.

Lord & Taylor (New York City)
Lord & Taylor decided to celebrate our holiday traditions, specifically food, for their window displays. Their theme is called ”A few of our favourite things”, and they’ve transformed themselves into a children’s paradise with giant candy everywhere. One can’t help but dream of taking selfies in there!

It’s already December 10th, and we’re still having difficulty getting into the holiday spirit, we didn’t even start our shopping yet!
Every year is different, but the solution is always the same. When you’re just not feeling it, watch one of your favourite holiday movies and it will light that fire under you.
It never fails!
Which is why, we thought, we could be of service if some of you haven’t gotten things started yet!
We’ve compiled a list of our Top 5 favourite holiday films to get you in the mood.
01. Home Alone (1990)
A tale as old as time, gigantic family leaves for Parisian holiday, leaves youngest child at home, said child must save the house from escaped convicts. Shakespeare couldn’t have written it better himself!
02. Elf (2003)
Who would have thought that Will Ferrell would make the most perfect elf ever seen on screen? This film is the definition of cute.
03. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)
Holiday dinners with our extended family can sometimes be a nightmare, this film illustrates that perfectly, all the while making us feel just a little bit better about our own family.
04. White Christmas (1954)
When it comes to Christmas music, no one compares to Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney. Not even the Queen of Christmas herself, Mariah Carey. For us, the classics are always the best choice.
05. Jingle All the Way (1996)
Arnold Schwarzenegger goes through something most parents will have to go through at least once in their lives; looking for that trendy sold out gift that every child wants.

We don’t know what’s gotten into us. Maybe it’s all this rain we’ve been having, but this week we’re crushing on our Tea Time fabric!
Our three different Tea Time prints are made of 40% viscose with 60% polyurethane coating, which means they’re water resistant!
We love the clear, bold dots and stripes of style 36724 and 36723, they would both make such amazing statement pieces. Not to mention the classic looking style 36492, with it’s beautiful black and white floral print. It’s so inspiring!
We were so in love with these three style that we even instagrammed them on the company account when they first came in.
What would you make with our Tea Time fabric? Let us know in the comment section!
Every Holiday Season, the same thing happens. We get overly excited about the season and buy tons of holiday themed clothes that we can’t wear the rest of the year.
A cheaper way to take part in the holiday spirit is to make your own themed-garments! You would undoubtedly end up with less seasonal wear, because of the time required to make a garment and henceforth not be stuck with unwearable things.
And just think of how proud you would be at Holiday dinners wearing a hand made top!
We’ve hand selected some Télio fabrics that we feel would be perfect for the holiday season. Here are our choices!

We always thought that we were really into the Halloween spirit as children. After 15 years of Heidi Klum Halloween Costumes, we’re changed our minds.
Our love of Halloween as kids didn’t even come close to hers as an adult. She wins!
She absolutely blows our minds every year. Her devotion to the holiday is unparalleled. She works with a team of designers, makeup artists and prosthetics people months before the big day. She is a Halloween professional.
Just in time to make you feel bad about your choice of costume this year, we’ve compiled a list of our 8 favourite Heidi Costumes.
08. The Apes (2011)
Heidi and her then husband Seal, dressed up as sexy apes for her second Halloween party in 2011.
07. Temptation (2006)
In 2006, Klum dressed up as the mythical Temptation, from Adam & Eve.
06. Crow (2009)
Heidi kept it simple in 2009 by dressing up as a crow, but her costume is still spectacularly well done.
05. Cadaver (2011)
Klum was wheeled in on a stretcher by bloody doctors in keeping with the theme of her cadaver costume. It’s strangely reminiscent of the Jean-Paul Gaultier muscle costume he did for French singer Mylène Farmer.
04. Butterfly (2014)
Last year, Klum decided she really wanted to impress her kids. She chose this very extravagant butterfly costume, and apparently, it worked!
03. Tall Alien (2010)
We thought this was some kind of robot costume, but apparently it’s supposed to be an Alien. We don’t really care what it is, we just know it looks amazing (and expensive)!
02. Goddess Kali (2008)
In 2008, Heidi enraged the Hindu community by dressing up as sacred figure Kali. We’re not big fans of cultural appropriate, but we can’t deny the epicness of this costume!
01. Old Lady (2013)
By far, her most impressive costume, Klum is absolutely unrecognisable under layers of prosthetics. This is meant to be a 95 year old version of herself. We gave up on Halloween after this. We’ll never win.
This year, Klum gave a rare sneak peak at her Halloween preparations to People Magazine and all signs point to her dressing up as Kim Kardashian’s now infamous Paper Magazine cover photo. We can’t wait to see how it looks!

The mention of Valentine’s day makes you do one of two things. If you’re the mushy type, the thought of a day dedicated to love, filled with cheesy (but awesome) romance, heart-shaped chocolate, ruby-red roses, and candle lit bubble baths has you swooning. If you’re on the other side of the spectrum, you’ve probably expressed your disinterest in the “holiday” on numerous occasions to friends, family, and co-workers, using the age-old argument that the day is only of benefit to corporations. I know I’ve expressed this sentiment before. Personally, I believe that love should be celebrated and expressed every-single day of the year, and doing something thoughtful for your partner means a lot more on any other day than Valentines. I do, however, love the heart shaped, red and pink colored everything, found everywhere. Want to know what else is awesome? Half priced chocolate on February 15th.
Clearly, I’m still inspired by this day of love, because I’ve dedicated a blog post to it! Today, we’re celebrating all cute heart shaped things, and all the warm fuzzies that love makes you feel. Seriously, love is an incredible sentiment, and it can make you do crazy and wonderful things! And you don’t have to be in a relationship to celebrate this day of love. I like to think of it as a day to show all those in your life who bring you love and happiness how much you appreciate them, because relationships are to be cherished!
Furthering the love day inspiration, here’s some fun facts about love and Valentine’s Day to share with your loved ones.
Enjoy your loved-filled weekend!
Red steals the show when paired with neutral apparel. If you’re looking to make a statement, a red accessory can create contrasting interest. With your eye-catching accessory as the focal point, the eye effortlessly travels to this dominating hue, ensuring that your entire ensemble is noticed.
What better time that to pop red into your wardrobe than tonight and tomorrow during your Christmas celebrations? Without much effort, you can put together the perfect holiday outfit.
I don’t think one could ever have too many Christmas sweaters- it’s just not possible. The holiday season is quite short-lived, but that doesn’t mean that we can’t have some fun with our wardrobe! I know I have a collection of Christmas socks, jewelry, and pjs which I love to bust out when December rolls around.
For those who think that one can have too many sweaters with jingle cats, prancing deer, and fun-lovin’ snowmen, well here’s an alternative. You already know that Fair Isle prints are pretty Christmassy, so here’s a little twist on that trend. Aztec prints have been creeping their way up in popularity on the runways and fashion lines for some time now, and we happen to think that these guys can easily be substituted for Christmas sweaters. That way, you won’t have to invest in something which you only feel right wearing once or twice a year. Aztec prints are pretty much season-less – it’s just about how you match them and pair them!
I mentioned jingle cats. So here they are. You’re welcome.
