Do you have any holiday weekend dinners planned with friends this upcoming season? Would you like to create a fun table setting, but don’t wish to break the bank?
Have no fear; I have just the DIY solution! With some help from your local dollar store and some random knickknacks from around the house (we have some very lovely keepsakes left over from our wedding this summer) you can be sure to put together something fun and eclectic for your gathering. The only thing really missing for me was placemats.
Here at Telio, we have many options for fabrics that you could use for placemats or table covers. I picked style 35590 Optic Garden in ivory for my placemats as the fabric didn’t appear to fray. For the table cloth, I used an old crochet table cover instead of traditional linen. It was the only option in the house. So, I decided to make it work.
After looking online to get an idea of standard placemat sizing, I went with 12 inches wide by 18 inches long. I was able to get about 6 placemats from 1m of this netting (I likely could have gotten about 8 or more placemats had I planned it out better. As they say, measure twice cut once).
For décor, I remembered a brilliant idea that a friend suggested in passing- Christmas tree balls used around the house instead of on the tree. I know, right!?! You can hang them with fishing line from your light fixtures or down your windows even.
In this case, I just dug through our Christmas tree décor bin and started gathering items.
Et voila, you have your holiday place setting. Enjoy!
