We’ve come to think of fishnets as something cheap, something that’s not classy, worn by people from the wrong side of the tracks. You can be wearing a really neutral outfit, but add fishnet stockings and it instantly becomes less-than.
That is about to change!
Fishnet and mesh are having a comeback, thanks to some of the fashion industry’s biggest names. Proenza Schouler had them in pretty much all their looks for Fall 2015, and Balmain, Maison Margiela and Simone Rocha are showcasing them in various forms and sizes for Spring 2016. The fishnet has become high fashion!
Who would have thought!

That’s a good thing though, it means we’ll see, as with every other trend, a trickle down effect. The crazy oversized fishnets showcased on the runway will make their way down to the streets in other forms and iterations.
We’ll undoubtedly end up with something more approachable, such as cute fishnet/mesh tops or even socks! Accessories are always a good way of taking part in seasonal trends without breaking the bank.
