The evolution of Miley Cyrus hasn’t been without controversies. The young woman has gone from Disney star to posing completely nude time and time again. We’d heard of shedding your teen star image, but Cyrus took it a few steps further.
That being said, she hasn’t gone off the rails. She still has a head on her shoulders, is involved with many organisations and charities (she was named one of the most charitable people of the year in 2014) and is genuinely trying to help people and do good in this world. Regardless of what we think of her personal style, she has to be applauded for that.
In celebration of her 23rd birthday, we’ve compiled our Top 5 favourite Miley looks from the past few years, all of them are work appropriate, we promise.
05. Met Gala (2013)
This Marc Jacobs mesh creation was a solid choice for the Punk theme of that year’s Met Gala. Cyrus accentuated the looks with spiked hair, but it’s the juxtaposition of the mesh dress over the nude coloured slip that we love, it’s edgy, yet semi-classic looking.
04. Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars (2013)
We love a good sequin dress and this green Marc Jacobs number is simply perfection. It’s young, it’s fresh and it’s timeless.
03. Rachel Zoe Fall 2013 Fashion Show (2013)
We absolutely love this red Rachel Zoe designed jumpsuit. It’s classic and it fits Miley like a glove! It’s the perfect red hue.
02. Elton John AIDS Foundation (2013)
This demure white floor length Azzaro gown was the perfect choice for a night at Elton John’s AIDS foundation Gala. We’ll try to forget about the open back and just picture her from the front.
01. amfAR Inspiration Gala (2015)
This Jeremy Scott for Moschino hearts covered gown is the perfect reflection of Miley’s new style. It’s big, it’s bold and it has a pop art influence. She even accessorized the gown with a pair of red Dr.Martens. She looks happy and in her element and that’s what Cyrus is all about these days.
