Every season, we see denim on the runway, sometimes in classic form, sometimes reinvented, but it’s always present in some way shape or form. Paris Fashion Week was no different, denim seemed to be the go to for a lot of emerging designers.
Of particular interest to us, being children of the 1990s, was the return of the voluminous jeans!
The baggy jeans of the 90’s has obvious roots in the 70’s, but their Spring 2016 iteration was pure 90’s flashback. They were mostly wide, slouchy, constructed predominantly of raw denim in bright retro hues and vintage looking stonewashes.
We just can’t wait to wear this style on the street! Like the below street style versions of the trend.
The following designers played heavily on the idea of the Voluminous Jean at fashion week; Dries Van Noten, Koché, Guy Laroche, Each X Other & Aalto.
One must remember though, when wearing voluminous/baggy denim, it’s always best to wear a more fitted top. Otherwise, the proportions are out of sync and the look could potentially come off as just messy. Loose on the bottom, should equal tight on top.
Here at Télio, we have a very large collection of denim. We’ve got denim in every colour and wash imaginable. Our Bondi Denim (style 65140) comes in a total of 15 different colours, and our Pacific Denim (style 33331) comes in 13 great looking colours as well. Our Cross Hatch Tencel Denim (style 34698), Bailey Knit (stule 34480) and Sonata Stretch Denim (style 34398) all come in 2 different blue hues.
A big question remains, are we ready to let go of our much adored skinny jeans and go the way of the voluminous pant? Has the time come?
We’re about to find out!
