Azzedine Alaïa famously said ”when the collection is ready, it’s ready” and boy was this one ready!
Even though it was presented months after the end of the season, it was well worth the wait! The collection has something for everybody; catsuits, luxurious coats, leopard prints, butterflies, bustiers, sheer blouses, berets, tulle, turtle-necks, pencil skirts, knits, velvets, gloves, fur trims, lace and giant mesh constructions.
Everybody can fall in love with something in Alaïa’s Fall 1995 ready-to-wear collection, it’s so extensive it also has the feel of a capsule collection.
We’re particularly in love with all the leopard print in the collection, as well as the blouses and the catsuits made in the butterfly print. The cuts and the way the clothes fit the body make all the pieces timeless. Alaïa could present essentially the same collection today and it would work.
The omnipresence of Naomi Campbell throughout the show at the earliest peak of her career make this show an iconic moment in fashion as well.
