Here at Télio, we love getting inspiration from films. Especially films by directors who have a very specific and distinct style, like Alfred Hitchcock, David Fincher or Wes Anderson.
We thought it would be a fun experiment to chose one fabric to represent all the films in a director’s filmography!
Lucky for us, the director we chose has only directed 5 feature films!
The Australian Mark Anthony Luhrmann, known as Baz Luhrmann, has directed some of the most stylish films of the past 25 years. All his films have a look and an energy like nothing you’ve ever seen before. They’re all grandiose spectacles and that’s why we love them.
From the ballroom extravaganza Strictly Ballroom, the Shakespearean tragedy Romeo + Juliet, the career-best musical Moulin Rouge!, the epic love story Australia and the dazzling 3D adaptation of The Great Gatsby Luhrmann is a master filmmaker that knows how to put on a good show!
We’ve chosen one fabric to accompany all of his films. A fabric we felt best represented the film in question, either by looking like one of the costumes or by bringing forth an emotion we remember from the film or simply something that could have very well been featured in the movie.
Strictly Ballroom (1992)
Romeo + Juliet (1996)
Moulin Rouge! (2001)
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Do you agree with our fabric choices? Would you have chosen something else? Are you a big fan of Baz Luhrmann’s films? Let us know!
