If there is one celebrity who has done a complete 180 when it comes to style, it is the child of destiny herself, Beyoncé Knowles.
She went from wearing God-awful matching outfits created by her mother, with her group mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams, to wearing cutting edge designers.
Even though we think it was cute that Mama Knowles sewed the groups outfits for every occasion, we can’t deny that Beyoncé’s style game has gotten exponentially better now that she isn’t being dressed by Tina.
In honour of her 34th birthday, we compiled our Top 5 favourite Beyoncé looks of all time. This will probably be our most dividing top 5 yet, because everyone has their favourite Bey look, but these are our faves!
05. Academy Awards (2005)
We rarely see Beyoncé wear something so simple. This strapless velvet Versace dress exudes glamour and old Hollywood, which is perfect because she attended the Oscars wearing it. It’s totally elegant and we love it, even though it must have been terribly hot.
04. Grammy Awards (2014)
Beyoncé opened the show with her hit song ‘Drunk in Love’, but she still managed to walk the red carpet in this custom open back Michael Costello gown. It fits her body like a glove and it looks very edgy with her cropped hair.
03. Met Gala (2013)
This is probably not everyone’s favourite Givenchy dress Beyoncé has worn to the Metropolitan Costume Institute Gala. We love it for it’s Royal feeling, it makes her look like the Queen she is. We wish the gloves were made out of the same material as the corset, but that’s just us.
02. Met Gala (2015)
The dress that almost broke the internet. We couldn’t believe our eyes, Beyoncé’s body has never looked better! We don’t blame her for showing up nearly naked on the red carpet. She arrived once the ceremony had already started in order to have the whole carpet to herself and boy did that Givenchy dress deserve it. We give her points for the high ponytail as well, it gives her an almost alien look, amazing!
01. MTV VMA’s (2011)
Thic choice won’t please everyone, but it’s the happiest we’ve ever seen her. On the red carpet that evening, Beyoncé showed up in a one shoulder red tunic dress, announcing her pregnancy, and during her performance of ‘Love on Top’, she was positively glowing! She ended the song by dropping the microphone, unbuttoning her Dolce & Gabbana blazer and rubbing her pregnant belly. Perfect!
This list would have probably been more fun if we’d counted down Beyoncé Top 5 Worst Looks, but we’ll keep that for a special occasion.
