The 32nd annual MTV Video Music Awards was held last night in Los Angeles, hosted by the clever Miley Cyrus. A bold move on the part of MTV, the ceremony is usually hosted by whatever comedian is hot and trendy in the given year.
This year’s prestigious Award, commonly referred to as the Moon Man, was redesigned by designer Jeremy Scott. He transformed it into a pop culture piece that speaks to the beginnings of MTV in the 1980s. We find it looks great, even though it’s inspired by the past, it seems fresh and relevant. We hope this is a new tradition for MTV and that they’ll ask designers to redesign the award every year! To give it a fresh new twist!
The awards show was pretty predictable, as per usual, except for a little outburst from Nicki Minaj towards host Miley Cyrus, a bizarre crying fit from Justin Bieber at the end of his performance and an overlong speech by Kanye West as he accepted the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
As there wasn’t many stars in attendance at this year’s ceremony it was quite hard to pick a top 5 best dressed.
Here we go:
05. Kourtney Kardashian
In a fitted pink Balmain jumpsuit, the mom of three looked amazing and festive.
04. Emily Ratajkowski
The actress wore a fun Altuzarra gown with a high slit and thigh high boots. A very fun ensemble for the VMA’s.
03. Demi Lovato
One of the performers of the night, Lovato opted for a light pink Nicolas Jebran cut-out mini dress. It feels very fresh and of the moment.
02. Gigi Hadid
One of Taylor Swift’s besties wore a gorgeous yellow number by Emilia Wickstead. Only a model of her stature could pull off this look, unfortunately.
01. FKA Twigs
The trendy singer decided to show off a lot of skin in this Atelier Versace dress. It’s too bad she didn’t win anything, it would have looked great on stage!
