We have no idea why, but someone people are terrified of wearing turtlenecks. They have an abject reaction to anything that is slightly elevated at the collar.
Which we think is strange, because turtlenecks are one of those items that tend to look good on everybody. They’re elegant, slimming and can be worn casually or more formally.
Autumn/Winter 2015/2016 sees the return of an old favourite: the turtleneck maxi dress!
Some might beg to differ, but we believe the turtleneck maxi dress looks good on all body shapes, and it has to bonus of being totally comfortable. It’s also one of the best garments to accessorize. It’s like a blank slate, a big canvas awaiting your input. Whether it’s jewellery, coats, blazers, belts, fringe, it’s up to you to dress it up, or keep it simple and classic and wear it by itself.
Preferably made out of a jersey knit, the turtleneck maxi dress hugs the body and then flares out from the knee. Mid-weight jerseys works best, but light-weight also works. We have a lot of fabric here at Télio that would make perfect turtleneck maxi dresses, like our; Mirabella (33850), our Nolita French Fleece (34631), our Capella Rib (33589). our Annabelle Knit (26120) or our 320 Ponte (32909).
If you’re looking to buy one of these dresses in stores, we suggest starting to look in October, that’s when most of the deliveries come in.
