Years ago, on one of our trips to New York City, at one of our favourite stores Oak, we saw a salesperson dressed in head to toe mint. He was wearing a mint polo underneath a mint cardigan, with mint trousers, a mint belt and mint loafers (where on earth he found those, we have no idea).
We weren’t big fans of the colour before, but after seeing this guy’s look, we developed a fixation! Not only with mint, but with head to toe single colour blocking. It’s absolutely one of our favourite things.
Most people who work in fashion do it everyday, with black, but it’s not the same. As much as some would argue, black isn’t a colour.
There’s a certain power to wearing only one colour. It feels as thought you’ve completely appropriated it for yourself, it is yours, no one elses. Just think of Katniss Everdeen in her red look on the Mockingjay Part 2 poster. Powerful.
We’ve never found enough mint elements to duplicate the Oak salesperson’s look, but we haven’t lost hope yet.
Télio has some amazing mint coloured fabrics this season if you’d like to take the project on yourself. Our Martinique Piqué (36311, col.07), our Daisy (36486, col.11) and our Fun Dot Mesh (35829, col.08) are very fun and funky. Our Moss Knit (36154, col.09) and our Pebble Crepe (36268, col.06) are great solids to work with. While our Star Velour (34095, col.50) and our Siesta Mesh (36031, col.09) are very distinct and can liven up any project!
