Let’s face it, summer is the best of the four seasons. We know some weird people prefer Spring and the Fall, but they can still be seen enjoying themselves on those perfect Summer days. They can’t deny the happiness factor that comes during those beautiful summer nights when everything feels perfect, all your cares float away and you can just appreciate life for what it is. Oops, did we get a little carried away?
There is one thing however that makes summer a little bizarre; dressing for the office! When you want to look professional, but it’s 40 degrees outside things can get a little awkward. Not all of us are comfortable going to work in short shorts, skirts and tank tops (and not all of us are allowed to)! How do you dress for work without feeling naked?
Going shopping for summer clothes that don’t reveal too much skin is harder than it looks! Stores are filled with crop tops, cut-out garments, transparent everything, the shortest shorts and tops rarely have sleeves. How can one navigate through all these work inappropriate clothes?
Know exactly what you are looking for!
Here are some great work appropriate outfit ideas maybe you hadn’t thought of.
The Oversized Men’s Shirt
It’s big, it’s airy and it doesn’t stick to your skin. You can also accessorize it in so many ways that it always feels fresh and it’s big enough to hide all our imperfections. Wear it with pants, inside a high waisted skirt or over a camisole.
The Sleeved Boho Dress
Sure, some of them are pretty revealing, but if you look hard enough you can find one that falls below the knee and that has sleeves!
The Timeless Blazer
We all work in air conditioned environments (if you don’t, god bless your soul), therefore you can always wear something light and throw a blazer or jacket over it. We love the ripped jeans and structured blazer look, it’s casual, yet semi-professional.
We dedicated a long post about our new-found love of culottes last week. They’re the perfect pants to get that summery breeze without showing too much leg and they’re totally cute!
The Fitted White Tee
The American classic! The fitted white tee will keep you cool and covered up, while still looking summery.
The Summer Prints
The cut of a garment is not the only thing that can say summer, prints can have the same effect! Here at Télio, we have thousands of summery florals and bright colors that can lighten up any look. Instead of showing skin, show off a print!
The Maxi Coats & Blazers
Maybe not the most practical option but visually, it looks stunning! They’re a great cover up when you’re wearing something a little more revealing but want to keep it classy.
