No white after labour day you say? That’s old news! While everyone else resorts to black, why not go polar opposite? White can be worn year-round, especially when the temperatures drop below zero!
Not only is head to toe white a refreshing contrast in a sea of black, grey, and navy, but for all you yogis out there it is believed that wearing all white clothing expands our auric radiance by at least one foot. It’s also considered an exercise in awareness, as it takes more consciousness and care to keep white clothes clean!
Now that you’re feeling rebellious and ready to break a major fashion faux-pas, there are a few things you need to keep in mind before you white out your look this winter.
1. Dress appropriately for the season: Don’t wear you’re favourite white summery dress or your breezy sheer white top that you wore on vacation. If you are going to wear a white dress this winter, make sure its in a heavier fabric and pair it with a cardigan and some thick tights.
2. Add interest with fabric that has texture: Just because you’re dressed in one shade doesn’t mean it has to be plain or boring. There are so many beautiful quilted fabrics out there (see below) that would be great for adding interest to your all white wintery look!
3. Stick to heavy fabrics: Stay away from lighter fabrics like cotton, poplin and chiffon but instead aim for heavier and richer fabrics like cashmere, mohair, fur, and leather.
4. Go one shade off: Depending on your skin tone, you might want to choose a color that’s slightly off-white, in the cream, ivory, or ecru family for maximum winter white effect.
Now that you have the scoop on how to rock white this winter, what do you think about this trend? Would you be able to pull it off? I know I would definitely need to exercise my awareness, since I tend to get something on my white clothing every time I wear it!
