S/S 15 was filled with exciting new colours, prints, silhouettes and trends to inspire and dream of, especially for evening and special occasion items. Here are our 5 key trends that you should be paying attention to for the upcoming spring season.
1. Thigh high: Add a little sex appeal to your evening wear with these high slit dresses. Instead of hitting crunches, it’s time to get in some squats this winter. This look shows off just the right amount of thigh with a side set slit, or two. designers have made it clear that Spring ’15 is all about legs.
2. The Tent Dress: This emerging silhouette was greatly inspired by the Row this season. It features a relaxed and exaggerated A-line shape that falls at the ankle or floor. These dresses leave more to the imagination and look comfortable and stylish all at the same time.
3.Sheer Overlay: There is a fairy princess feel to this look with chiffon, organza and tulle being used to create an ethereal mood for evening wear. Worn over bodysuits, bikini bottoms or boy shorts in nude or contrasting colours and draped in fluid layers with subtle prints and embroidery makes this look pretty whimsical.
4. Plunging Neckline: Stemming from the 1970’s theme, this look is taking sexy up a notch with necklines that hit the natural waist, with narrow and wide V shapes.
5. The Pant Suit: Who ever said that a pant suit was strictly business? Coordinated suiting, jumpsuits and pant sets come in formal fabrics such as silk and lamé, in both feminine and androgynous styles with lean, wide and flare pants for a look that is strong, confident and feminine all at the same time.
