Just because the cold weather is fast approaching doesn’t mean that we must forego our lightweight fabrics! Personally, I’m always drawn towards anything pink, sheer, and elegant. The ballet chic style has been popular for quite some time, and seems to be a trend that refuses to die! That’s fine with me though – I’m completely in favour of fuss-free hair, down-to-earth footwear, and flowy, feminine attire. Comfortable yet chic? Totally possible with ballet inspired looks. Here’s some basic tips to help you pull off this oh-so graceful trend.
Hair: To get that ballet chic hairstyle, think like a ballerina (because that’s entirely relatable…right?). A simple, no fuss no muss up-do style is key. Give your high-pony tail some extra oophm by teasing the tail at the base near the elastic. Another great volume trick I love is dividing my ponytail in two sections (top and bottom) and securing a small hair clip between the two sections. For a bun hairstyle, pull hair back and twist at the back of your head until you can wrap it tightly around itself, then secure with elastic. Add a light pink scrunchie for some extra sweetness!
Attire: Think lightweight, girly, and comfortable. Skinny jeans or black pants and simple ballet flats are always a winning combination. Dress your upper-half with a loose-fitting, chiffon button-down top, and pair it with a complimenting cardigan or a fitted blazer. Feeling more adventurous? The ever fashionable tulle skirt (a la Carrie Bradshaw) will definitely get you noticed. Top off your ensemble with a floral silk scarf to bring it all together.
Jewelry: Keep it minimalistic and classy. Think pearls, vintage precious stone rings, and thin gold bracelets. What is your favourite way to style ballet chic?
