This holiday season the gift giving trend is focused on items that have a handmade artisanal feel. People are opting for personalized, practical and handcrafted items to give to their friends and family rather than the mass produced, generic gifts. I mean who wouldn’t be happy receiving something that had been made uniquely for them? Working at TÉLIO has inspired me to be more creative and crafty. With access to thousands of different fabrics it’s hard not to start imagining all the things that can be made with them! My sewing skills are improving and my list is growing, so I have chosen 4 of my favourite DIY gift ideas that you can make for the holidays!
1. For the person who loves to be in the kitchen, make a simple apron that will look great during the holidays! This one is from Anthropologie, but TÉLIO has tons of gorgeous fabrics you can use! I thought the Verona Jacquard Style 34895 col. 01 was the closest match to the apron above! You can find some great patterns here.
2. I am obsessed with scarves, they really are the best accessory in my opinion, especially during the cold winter months! This one from Staple Design is so pretty and reminded me of our Nirvana Plaid Style 34595 col. 01 which is extra festive! Scarves are so easy to make and can make a great gift. You could make one that looks similar to the one above or you could even make an infinity snap scarf like Jessica Bundy did here!
3. I love a good clutch for the holidays because you don’t always want to be lugging around your large purse to all those parties, and leopard print spices up a little black dress quite nicely! This one by Clare Viver is really cute. You can easily sew up a nice clutch using the same pattern that Caroline used to make her faux leather version and you’ve got yourself one awesome DIY gift! They can even be used for makeup or to keep all of those random items floating around in your purse in one place!
4. Throw pillow’s are one of those items I can never say no to! I have quite a few piled onto my bed and sofa, and wouldn’t mind a few more. This adorable linen pillow from Indigo with the added glittery touch of sequins, would make the perfect holiday gift, and pillows are so simple to whip up!
Those are my favorite DIY gift ideas, what are some of yours?
