As the colour trend becomes lighter and more pastel driven for Fall 2014/2015, I have a feeling that some of us will likely keep it safe this season and stick to the basic black and grey shades.
One of my favourite shades is heather grey, which is also often referred to as a mélange grey.
Any colour can have the mélange effect but the heather grey look is typically a white yarn mixed with a shade of grey or varying greys which is dyed before the yarns are spun. They are then banded and brushed. You can also create a similar effect by using yarns with different fibers blended together. They will take dyes at a different rate which will create a nice mélange effect in the end.
Typically, heather grey is seen in active wear, uniforms and office sportswear but I am seeing this palette used more and more in home décor as well. This is most likely for the simple reason that it’s a neutral shade which can be combined with any other colour, and the mélange effect adds that little bit of texture.
Below are some fabric options from the TÉLIO collection to help you with your heather grey look. Enjoy!
