This is a super easy way to take a boring old bookshelf and give it a fresh update using fabric to create a graphic backdrop for your treasures.
All you need is some TÉLIO Fabric (I used 33879 Col. 01). A large graphic print is the most effective so you can still see it among the items you place on your shelves. Other supplies- double sided tape, scissors, ruler and/or tape measure, pen and iron (if needed).
Lay out your large piece of fabric on a table or floor and measure your bookshelf. Then measure and mark out the size you need using a ruler and a pen on backside of your fabric and cut along these lines so you have a piece large enough to cover the entire back wall of your shelf. Iron your fabric piece if needed after it is cut to size.
Finally, place double sided tape along all 4 edges of the wall where your fabric will be (as close to the edge as possible) and you can even double up along the top edge to make sure fabric will be secure. Remove the plastic from the double sided tape and roll your fabric out from bottom to top along the entire shelf and press firmly once in place, smoothing fabric and making sure placement is straight and even. (This could also be done with small finishing nails, a nail gun/staple gun, or Velcro – in which fabric could then be easily changed!)
Et Voila! Put your shelves back into place and you now have an exciting new piece in your home.
